SCENT SELECTION:
To help you select, we use the following terms:
*Top Notes* is used to indicate the strongest scent in the candle. Top notes are noticeable when the candle is cold or hot.
*Middle Notes* is used to capture the secondary scents in the candle, which may or may not be noticeable when the candle is cold. Middle notes come out during the burning of the candle and should start to become more apparent as the wax melts and the pool spreads to the edges of the tin.
*Finish* is used to capture the most subtle scents in the candle. Finishing notes are sometimes undetectable as individual scents, but they add a subtle complexity as the scent begins to fill the room.

ABOUT SCENTS: We all know scents are subjective. What smells amazing to one person may not be to another person’s liking. Please be realistic with your expectations – we are all different and that’s what makes the world so great. If you are unsure of whether or not you’re going to like a scent, try a Flame Noir tealight set first. Our tealight sets offer a smaller commitment to sample the scents we offer. Find your favorite!
PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Turn package over above your wax melt dish and simply press on the bottom of the cube to pop one out. Heat the cube in accordance to the directions for your favorite wax warmer. Our plastic clam-shells are heat resistant to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, which means that you can transfer the cooled wax back into the container while it’s still in liquid form if you would like to change scents before the product has been “used up”. Discard any unused wax & paper towels in the trash, as wax can harden in household pipes causing plumbing issues. Always use caution while handling hot wax.
Shake well before each use. We recommend spot testing prior to use on carpets, fine fabrics and furniture. May cause floors to become slippery. Use with care. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Our sprays can be used in the air, to freshen fabrics, or they can be used in the lavatory to keep your privacy and dignity intact. Simply spray on the water’s surface before you go to create a scent barrier – it’s like magic!
Since our wax melts and candles are 100% natural with no dyes and no additives, frosting may occur. The candles and wax melts that you might purchase at the supermarket are filled with chemicals and additives that prevent the natural process of frosting, however, it is typical of all natural soy wax and is not a product flaw. Frosting does not effect the scent or the performance of our wax melts or candles.
Although there are many suppliers of treated candle tins are on the market, Flame Noir Candle Co has decided not to use candle tins that have been “varnished” on the interior with what we feel is an unnecessary chemical wash. While it is true that varnishing prevents “tin pinking”, we haven’t found a supplier who offers an all-natural varnish that we are comfortable using with our all-natural candles. As a result of our choice to avoid the use of varnished tins, (and because we do not use additives or dyes to disguise or chemically eliminate any natural discoloration), you may notice a slight pink color on the interior of your candles in scent blends that contain vanilla or other spices. Not to worry! This “tin pinking” is simply a natural chemical reaction. It is not a product flaw, and will not affect the scent or the performance of your candle. Our scent blends use high-quality, all natural fragrance oils that are vegan, cruelty free, non-GMO and Phthalate free. Our wicks are lead free and dipped in beeswax, and our unvarnished candles do not contain additives or other unsafe ingredients like the ones you might find at the supermarket. Since these soy wax candles do not contain additives, the surface wax after your first burn may appear rough, frosted, or slightly lumpy once it hardens. This is typical of all natural soy wax candles and is purely cosmetic. It is not a product flaw and will not affect the scent or performance of your candle!
Our candles are lead free! Our wicks are specialty, coreless cotton interwoven with paper and dipped in beeswax. Our soy wax candles are dye free and do not contain wax additives.
CANDLE CARE:
Our specialty, core-less cotton, paper and beeswax wicks are “self-trimming”, in that they curl slightly as they burn. This aids in burning off the end of the wick as it goes so there’s less left to trim after each burning. On occasion, you may notice “mushrooming” at the end of your wick. This is simply carbon buildup and is typical of core-less/lead free wicks. To quickly and neatly trim your wick, we recommend turning your cooled and hardened candle upside over a garbage bin where you may simply trim or pinch the excess wick to 1/4 of an inch. Prior to relighting, make sure you clean away any soot or debris from the candle surface.

To quickly and neatly trim your wick, we recommend turning your cooled and hardened candle upside over a garbage bin where you may simply trim or pinch the excess wick to 1/4 of an inch. Trim wick to 1/4 inch prior to lighting. Keep candle free of foreign material. Only burn candle on a level, fire resistance surface. Do not burn longer than 4 hours at a time. Discontinue use when only 1/4 inch of the wax remains.

Special custom commissions, including new scent creation with custom labeling & candle inserts are available and are approved on a case-by-case basis. Prepayment in full is required for all custom commissions and there are no refunds on commissions or bulk orders. Please note that once the commission is completed, Flame Noir maintains ownership of the scent and branding and may decide to feature the scent in other products at a later date. All custom commissions will need to fit into the Flame Noir detective and/or mystery theme in order to be approved.
SHIPPING & RETURNS:
Our candles and wax melts ship worldwide! We are sorry, but at this time, we are only able to ship our liquid products, (room sprays), domestically within the 48 contiguous United States.
Ordering soy wax candles in the mail during summer months can be tricky, but we can maximize our success by planning ahead. If you are going to be ordering candles during the hottest months of the year, make sure you are home on the delivery day whenever possible. Once you have received your tracking number, you can set up text and email alerts so that you are made aware of when your package is arriving. If you can’t be home on delivery day, look for alternatives – like asking a friend or neighbor to pick up your mail or letting your roommates know your candle is arriving. The lower the chances that your candle will be left out on your doorstep in the heat of the day, the better the odds that your candle will arrive ready to go the distance while you binge-watch Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries on Netflix! Due to the nature of these homemade products, we cannot accept returns. Once the products leave our hands, we can no longer guarantee their integrity, and therefore, they can’t be sold to anyone else.
