The Scene:

Give the secret knock and take a trip to 52nd St. Speakeasy, Manhattan, 1933. Let your imagination run wild as you enter the dimly lit room by a steep flight of stairs and are greeted by a blast of red hot jazz from the house band banging away at the back of the room.

Move past the packed dance floor, where dozens of couples do the Lindy Hop and the Varsity Drag. Skirts are fanning and suspenders are showing. Cuff links are discarded and sleeves are rolled up.

Order a Manhattan and take a seat at the bar next to half-tied, retired detective Nick Charles. He sits lopsided on his stool, lining up drinks and then joyfully knocking them down. Ain’t life grand? It just don’t get snazzier than this, pally!
