The Scent:
Step back in time with Flame Noir Candle Co’s original Hunter-Dulin Bldg. soy candle inspired by private investigator Sam Spade. Our handmade lead-free scented candle features a commanding blend of fresh tobacco, Indian sandalwood, aged leather and the smoldering intensity of wood smoke.
The Scene:
Step inside Hunter-Dulin Bldg., San Francisco, 1930 and take a ride to the 5th floor where you will find the offices of Sam Spade, Private Investigator. Let your imagination run wild as you exit the elevator and step into a white marble hallway interspersed with black tiles in intricate patterns.
Head into the waiting room of “Spade & Archer” where you find a fresh-faced Effie Perrine sitting behind the reception desk, a Royal Portable typewriter in front of her. She rises to walk through a wooden and glass door just past her desk, marked only with the word, “Private”.
You enter Sam Spade’s office. The small space is filled with leather and hard wood furniture. To the right of the door sits a small table with a lamp next to a black leather sofa. A framed picture of the Hunter-Dulin building hangs on the wall above it. To the right of the door is a bank of file cabinets holding stacks of binders and note pads. A calendar is pinned to a wall nearby, crossed by the shadow of “Spade and Archer”, which is painted on a window overlooking San Francisco.
Sam Spade sits behind his desk, his gray fedora laying on the desk blotter next to a black rotary telephone. He attempts to roll a cigarette, eyebrow cocked in annoyance. Effie takes the cigarette papers and tobacco from him, sits lightly on the edge of his desk, and quickly does the job. “There’s a girl wants to see you,” she says. “Her name’s Wonderly.”
Scent Notes:
Indian sandalwood, aged leather, fresh tobacco, spicy cinnamon, cedar, dried leaves, charred wood, pine, warm cloves, vintage wine and musk
Scent Strength:
Medium
Scent Nose:
Spicy top notes of Indian sandalwood mellow against vintage leather and fresh tobacco middle notes, with a mysterious lingering smoke finish that gives this candle a subtle, masculine quality.
